Our History

Housed in an historical building dating to 1886, Water Street Studios began as a shared vision of a group of interested community members, talented artists, a generous property owner, and the City of Batavia in 2007.

This vision turned into a plan when the Batavia Artists Association and Water Street Studios was founded and opened to the public two years later in 2009.

Today, Water Street Studios has become an integral cultural hub that draws, enriches and supports renowned artists, experienced art teachers, talented students and the art and culture-loving public from all over the Fox Valley and beyond.

Water Street Studios was awarded “Best Gallery” in 2019 by West Suburban Living Magazine and Kane County Chronicle.
